John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893) was a Victorian-era painter, notable for his moonlit scenes and landscapes.

These paintings are incredible because we’ve all seen eerie clouds like this, but they’re virtually impossible to photograph the same way we see them. So this guy painted them. This is why painting and art is important.

Sometimes I wonder why English people use irregular verbs, like “WHY DON’T YOU SIMPLY PUT AN -ED AT THE END OF THE WORD?!!”

kafu:

And then I remember I’m French and our irregular verbs are probably the worst ever invented.

Je suis.
Que je fusse.
Nous étions.
Nous fûmes.
Nous serons.

Que je sois.

Yeah this is the same verb… and I apologize in advance to those who want to learn French language.

The skull and crown of Swedish 12th century Erik the Saint

The skull and crown of Swedish 12th century King Erik IX, called Erik the Saint, are displayed in Uppsala Cathedral in Sweden on Wednesday April 23, 2014. Researchers from Uppsala University have opened a small gilded box containing the skull and bones of Swedish King Erik IX, who became a national saint after he was murdered in 1160. The researchers also removed the king’s burial crown, which is the oldest known royal crown in Sweden, to display it to the public for the first time. (AP Photo/Bertil Ericson)

Mystery Legends: The Phantom of the Opera

I sort of want an artbook by this artist.  Or something.

Merits of the game aside, I love everything about these pictures.

I don’t think he drew these pictures but I used to talk on Deviantart with someone who did a lot of artwork for the game. Here’s a link to his DA and a blog post about some of his work for the game.
